What and when are the library's virtual office hours?

The Library's Virtual Office Hours are conducted via Zoom. They're a time to drop-in to ask questions about research, e-resources, or troubleshoot problems. A few staff members will be on live each time to help you. Office hours will be offered through Dec. 10.

  • Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00 - 1:30 pm

How do I contact the library with questions?

Drop-in to the virtual office hours, email paynelib@vts.edu, or submit this form anytime with questions. A library staff member will get back to you promptly. You may also call during our business hours (703) 461-1733.

I'm having trouble accessing an e-resource, how do I get help?

We're finding that e-resources can sometimes go wonky. Frequently, the problems are resolved for patrons when you clear the cache and cookies in your browser or open the link in a private browsing window. More instructions can be found here.

If the above steps do not work, you may email charper@vts.edu. Cindy Harper is the library's Electronic Services Librarian.

The book I need is not available electronically, what are my options?

Many resources are only available in print format, often due to publisher restrictions. If there is a specific resource you need, email paynelib@vts.edu and library staff will try to find an e-version for you. If we cannot, we will work with you to identify alternative resources for your research.
